19th – 25th June was meant to be National Breastfeeding Awareness Week this year. The government, however, have decided to drop their funding for this. It seems that raising and maintaining awareness of the importance of breastfeeding is as important to messers Cameron and Clegg as our Sure Start centres.
That is to say, not at all.
If this pisses you off as much as it does me, get to The Lactivist and sign their petition to bring this issue up for debate in parliament. 100,000 signatures will do it, so get signing now.
I wrote more on this at Real Parenting.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware this was happening. I signed the petition immediately. I can’t believe this government – there are already cuts being made to front-line staff – nurses, midwives, radiographers etc., which the government deny, and quietly they are doing this sort of thing too. I despair!
Hey Lady, great article , I’ll spread the word, hope you and Ella are keeping well
